Vision Africa has always had young people at the heart of our work and now we have decided to extend that to include young people from across the world as well as young Kenyans. We are launching a new programme called “Young Ambassadors” and it will primarily be launched in Scotland by our volunteer Stephanie from Glasgow and the US by our former intern Bersabell. Hopefully we will be able to expand the programme to include all of the UK and many other places too.
The programme is aimed at 16-25 year olds who have some interest or previous involvement with Vision Africa. We aim to recruit about 20 young people in Scotland who will essentially be the face of Vision Africa in Scotland. The Young Ambassadors will raise awareness about Vision Africa and will hold various fundraising events for the charity. The young people in Scotland will have the opportunity to complete saltire awards and increase their own knowledge on world issues through their involvement with Vision Africa.
The Young Ambassadors across the world will work closely with the Vision Africa Alumni in Kenya to ensure that the Ambassadors are providing an accurate representation of their lives in Kenya. As we roll out the Ambassadors program across Scotland and the US there will also be an opportunity for our Kenyan supporters to set up their own Kenyan Young Ambassadors to increase awareness of Vision Africa’s work in Kenya as well as across the world.
If you or someone you know are interested in becoming an Ambassador then you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can give you more information. The deadline for applications to be considered has been extended to the 1st of August.
