After the successful completion of this year’s Manchester for Kibera tournament, there is no rest for the Kibera Mpira Mtaani committee as they move straight in to preparations for an informal schools tournament. Thanks to a donation from a Vision Africa supporter, the funds are available for a one week football tournament that will kick off on the 8th October.

Saturday 12th September saw the finals of Kibera Mpira Mtaani’s “Manchester for Kibera” tournament. Launched on the 8th of August, this tournament ran throughout the August school holidays and involved 124 teams across 5 categories.
JP Family Cup Finals 2009

The 2009 John Packard Family Cup football tournament was hailed as a great success by the Kibera Mpira Mtaani (Kibera Village Football) committee, coaches, referees and players. The tournament was launched on 28th of March with a friendly match between the British High Commission Cheetahs and a combined Kibera Mpira Mtaani U17 team where the final score was 4-4.

How many kids do you know that would ask to go to school or extra classes on a Saturday morning? Not many? That wasn’t the case this week as Kibera Mpira Mtaani (Kibera Village Football) launched their Saturday morning classes in their office in Kibera.
