Breaking News – Kenya Drought

Kenya, a country still in crisis. It is now the end of March and the rains have not come. The weather forecasters tell us that when the rains do come it will not be enough to fill the dams and rivers to the expected levels. They have been falling constantly over a few years now. Dams, rivers and boreholes in some places have completely dried up.

Food shortage continues, prices are way beyond the possibility of thousands and water is a serious concern. In Busia, where Nyamwanga and Busire schools are situated, cholera cases are being reported, as well as other parts of the country. The papers report some 515 cases.

A picture of poverty: Opposite Riandu Children’s home there is a small compound of families who for a month now have lived on mangoes; the fruit has gone and they are now burning the trees to make charcoal to sell. People are desperate and do not know what to do??? What does the future offer them?? They planted seed ready for the rains; it has been eaten by insects. These insects would normally be destroyed by the rains, but… NOT A CLOUD IN THE SKY. This scene is repeated all over Kenya and each day pictures of dying people are seen in the papers.

PLEASE REMEMBER KENYA AND IT’S PEOPLE…To date we are managing to keep our projects going, but for how long…?

If you would like to help ensure we can continue to feed the children in our care, please consider making a small donation to us. Just follow this link to give on line today. Thank you.
