You’re Never Too Old

Joe Timperan celebrated his 80th birthday by doing a sponsored cycle ride in his home area in aid of Vision Africa. As a result, he raised the wonderful and amazing total of £1,790!!!

Joe has been a staunch supporter of Vision Africa from its very beginning back in 2001 and we say thank you to him for his recent birthday event.

VOTE NOW: Optimist World

On the 9th July 2009, Vision Africa received an offer we just couldn’t refuse. We have been invited to be listed on Optimist World’s website and compete for their charity of the week/ year award. As well as the free publicity, winners of the initial stages of this competition are in with a chance of winning a cash prize which would be put towards our projects in Kenya.

Income Generating Projects

For several years, Seed of Hope has been assisting its graduates to set up their own businesses in order to become self sufficient. This gives them the “dignity, opportunity and hope” we feel they deserve and prevents them relying on external assistance indefinitely. This concept has proved to be a great success and it is one that we are now looking to apply to a number of our projects.

St. Andrews Baby Unit

The St. Andrews Baby Unit, situated in Kandara Children’s Home, has now been open for 18 months. Set up to cater for babies and small children, the unit has proved to be a valuable asset to the local community and is now well established.

2009 has seen the unit welcome four new babies ranging from 4 hours old to about 1year. Some of these have been abandoned, some orphaned and some rescued from situations of neglect. Read the full article »

JP Family Cup Finals 2009

The 2009 John Packard Family Cup football tournament was hailed as a great success by the Kibera Mpira Mtaani (Kibera Village Football) committee, coaches, referees and players. The tournament was launched on 28th of March with a friendly match between the British High Commission Cheetahs and a combined Kibera Mpira Mtaani U17 team where the final score was 4-4.
