Seed of Hope Success Stories

Over the past few months we have brought you updates on Seed of Hope Graduations and sports events. Now, we would like to give you the stories of 2 of our graduates who have used their Seed of Hope training to become successful businesswomen.

Seed of Hope Football

At the end of Seed of Hope sports day in July 2008, a football match took place that was the start of something new and exciting for the Nairobi centre. Every girl in the school took to the field as a coach and an official from Vision Africa’s Kibera Mpira Mtaani refereed and watched to see how the girls played.

Community Work

Crail is a village in the East Neuk of Fife, well known all over the world for its picturesque harbour. What is less well known is the generosity of its residents. Over the past three years, Vision Africa has benefited from funds donated by several individuals, groups, societies and businesses in the village.

Kindhearted Kids

If you’re looking for inspiration for your fundraising or encouragement to part with a few coins, read on for stories of 2 little girls who are leading the way in generosity.

The first story that was brought to our attention was that of 10 year old Sally from a small fishing village in Scotland. Vision Africa is already supported by many people from this village including the local drama and sewing groups, the women’s guild and the primary school. Sally decided it was her turn to get involved and saved up £50 of her pocket money and birthday money and duly sent it to Vision Africa.

A Taste of Africa

crafted logoOn the evening of Thursday 23rd April, we will be presenting an opportunity for our supporters in Scotland to learn more about the work of Vision Africa and see some of the fruits of our projects.

The event is entitled “A Taste of Africa” and will feature beads, bites and beats from Kenya and beyond. The main entertainment will be a fashion show featuring clothes and accessories made by graduates from our Seed of Hope vocational training centres Read the full article »

 


Packard Family Cup 2009 Launch

“BHC Cheetahs fly in player from Dubai for Mpira Mtaani match”. If this were a tabloid newspaper, that would probably be the headline. In fact, it isn’t that far from the truth.

On Saturday the 28th March the John Packard Family Cup 2009 was launched. The first game of the tournament was an under 14s match between FC Marren and the Diadems in which FC Marren were the victors with a 2-0 scoreline. The second match of the day was the British High Commission Cheetahs vs a Kibera Mpira Mtaani under 17s side. This fixture was much anticipated after the previous results of a scoreless draw and a 4-0 defeat by Mpira Mtaani. The Cheetahs claimed to be better prepared for this game and ready for a tough match.
